Funeral and Celebration of Life Ceremonies…
Hi, I am Lisa and I am based in Sidmouth, Devon. As a Funeral Celebrant, I help bereaved families create personal and meaningful funeral ceremonies that reflect the life lived of their loved one and that allow everyone to recognise their grief and celebrate their love for that person.
I know how difficult this time is for those who have lost a loved one and I strive to guide families, relatives and friends through the process of ensuring that their loved one has a meaningful, personal and fitting farewell.

I can either be contacted directly or via your chosen Funeral Director. I will then meet you (at least once) to speak to you about how you wish your ceremony to be.
Your loved one may have left wishes or a plan for their funeral ceremony, or you may be starting from scratch. This is where I can guide you through all of the options and together we can create the perfect funeral or celebration of life, burial or cremation. I hope to have answers to most of your questions but I will always come back to you with any further information that you may need. It may seem overwhelming but I will be with you every step of the way. I will support and guide you throughout.
You will be able to see the final ceremony script before the day of your final farewell. I will be there on the day to deliver the ceremony and to support anyone who wants to be part of the day – with readings, music, tributes – or anything else we decide on.
I hope that you can see that I am there to take you by the hand and lead you through this difficult time and allow you to create the perfect send-off for your loved one.
If I am the right celebrant for you, then ultimately it is no longer about me, it is about you and your loved one. Planning a funeral can feel totally overwhelming and trying to piece everything together while you are dealing with your own emotions is very tricky. Go easy on yourself.
‘Thank you so much for all your kindness and compassion shown to us with the tragic loss of our son Simon.
As our celebrant you went above and beyond dealing with most of the communication and funeral details, which we had no inkling on how to deal with.
You were only too willing to assist us by checking and preparing all the required details, crematorium, funeral home etc.., for the day itself, discussing the order of service, arranging photo displays and hunting down specific songs we requested.
Even facilitating the inclusion of an electric bike and trailer, which was very special to us.
The way you conducted the service was very warm, caring and professional, we felt you expressed our feelings perfectly, you listened to how we wanted it to go and followed these wishes, even the short notice changes!
Your ideas and input were greatly appreciated, the poem you suggested was perfect.
You made a heartbreaking day go as well as we could have possibly wished, helping us to say goodbye to our beloved son.
Thank you for all you did to help us through this traumatic time and for your continuing kindness.
with love and thanks, Vera, Jim….& Simon x”

,,,,Just a little bit more about me and why the ‘right’ funeral ceremony is so important to me.
My brother died when he was 17 years old after a car accident, and I was 19 years old. I lost my husband aged 48 years, to cancer, and I was 41 with four young children. My career as a Paramedic has meant that I’ve seen many deaths – some expected through illness, and many sudden, unexpected deaths through illness or accident.
I’ve worked with bereaved families and children through many charities – Force, Balloons, and HospiceCare.
It is so important that a funeral is a ‘good’ and the ‘right’ funeral. It has to be an event that pays tribute to the person who has died or is dying. If you have a funeral ceremony or Celebration of Life where you can recognise that person, it doesn’t bring them back, but it helps to keep those memories alive and allows people to come together in love and support of one another. It doesn’t erase the grief and pain – it can just ease it a little.
